ISO-PPC Classification Documents

As of January 01, 2019 the ISO-PPC classification for the City of Pampa has been improved to an ISO-PPC 2/2X

This classification by the Insurance Services Office, Inc. (ISO), known as the Public Protection Classification (PPC) program, assesses the fire-protection, water supply and distribution and dispatch center capabilities of a community.  This new rating could result in a cost savings to commercial and residential insurance customers in the Pampa Fire Department’s response jurisdiction.

So what is an ISO-PPC Classification?

ISO is an advisory organization that serves the property and casualty insurance industry and the Public Protection Classification (PPC) is the classification system used by the Insurance Services Office (ISO) to reflect a community's local fire protection for property insurance rating purposes. The public fire protection of a city is graded using ISO's Fire Suppression Rating Schedule to develop the community's classification.

What does a dual PPC like 2/2X mean?

In some communities, a split classification is developed. The first number refers to the classification of properties within five road miles of a fire station and within 1000 feet of a creditable water supply (most properties in the city limits of Pampa are within this parameter). The second number, with the "X" designation, applies to properties within five road miles of a fire station but beyond 1000 feet of a creditable water supply.
