City Engineer

General Purpose
This position is responsible for directing, coordinating, and performing engineering services to include the review of development projects, perform complex office and field related engineering work in connection with the planning, design, review and construction of streets, drainage, water distribution and sewer collection lines, parking areas, and other City projects.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Review, comment and approve civil plans relating to public and private developments within the city limits and ETJ to assure new projects comply with applicable ordinances, development agreements and acceptable design practices.
- Monitor subdivision and commercial activity from design through the construction completion.
- Work closely with other department heads, engineers, developers and contractors regarding City activities and projects.
- Identify infrastructure improvements necessary to accommodate projected growth and development.
- Review in-progress and completed maintenance projects, establish priorities for short-term and long-term maintenance projects and coordinate implementation.
- Administer the Floodplain Management Program and serve as the City's Floodplain Administrator.
- Coordinate utility relocation, easement and ROW acquisitions and ROW permits.
- Plan preparation for minor city-initiated public works projects.
- Administer a storm water master plan.
- Review and update Technical Standards and Specifications Manual as needed.
- Administer contracted projects for the City as directed.
- Respond to public inquiries, investigate and resolve complaints, or refer to appropriate individual or department for resolution.
- Coordinate and prepare the Planning/Engineering budget for presentation and consideration to the Director of Public Works.
- Regular and timely attendance is required for this position.
Desired Minimum Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or another closely related field
- Certification: Licensed Texas Professional Engineer
- Three (3) years related experience
- Valid State of Texas Driver's License with an acceptable driving record
Salary
$5,000 - $6,667 Monthly
