Recreational Maintenance

General Purpose:

Works and maintains city parks and specific city owned facilities. Work will include general mowing and landscaping of parks and facilities. Will perform routine maintenance at parks and facilities. Will need some general knowledge of mowers and lawn equipment. Will also require some work on some heavy machinery. 

Salary: $12.53

Supervision Received:

Works under the general supervision of Parks & Recreation Superintendent. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Perform general labor. Will require pushing and riding mowers, weed eating, blowing sidewalks and curbs. Minor repairs to playground equipment. Installing seasonal lights that are placed around town. Maintenance of mowers and lawn equipment. Snow removal from select city facilities in winter. Repairs to sprinkler systems in city parks and select city facilities. Painting of playground equipment and certain city facilities. 

Helps with Recreation activities such as volleyball, softball, and kickball etc. 

Desired Minimum Qualifications

Education and Experience: 
(A) High school diploma or equivalent required. 
(B) Valid drivers license.
(C) Will require a CDL but have some time to achieve that. 

Necessary Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
(A) Skill in operation of equipment listed. 
(B) Knowledge and ability to use tools. 
(C) Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, supervisors, other agencies, community leaders, and the general public Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing. 

Tools and Equipment Used:

Push mowers, riding mowers, weed eaters, blowers, various tools, tractor, backhoe, dump truck, lift truck, bucket truck, portable radio.

The employee will occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and the ability adjust focus.
