Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Supervises route drivers, dumpster replacement, grass route, and other personnel directly or through subordinate supervisors. Determines work procedures, prepares work schedules, and expedites workflow. Assigns duties and examines work for exactness, neatness, and conformance to policies and procedures. Prepares composite reports from individual reports of subordinates. Adjusts errors and complaints. Oversees all projects in the sanitation Department, including daily operations and ongoing related activities. Prepares plans and specifications for collection operations; solicits proposals, prepares bid documents, negotiates and administers contracts for collection projects. Oversees the maintenance and repair of all collection equipment and facilities.
Work Schedule:
Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and rotating Saturdays.
Minimum Qualifications:
Requires a high school diploma or its equivalent. A minimum of four years experience related to solid waste programs; or any equivalent combination of education and experience. A CDL or be able to obtain after being hired. Considerable knowledge of solid waste collection principles, practices, methods and trends. Ability to communicate effectively with employees, consultants, other governmental agency representatives, city officials, and the general public.
