Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Police Chief - Performs a variety of complex administrative, supervisory and professional work in planning, coordination and directing the activities of the Police Department. The Police Chief will supervise a staff of 27, including 23 sworn officers and 4 support staff.
Work Schedule
Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. With emergency call out
Selection Process to be Utilized:
Qualified applicants interviewed by the City Manager or designee.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in police science, law enforcement, criminal justice, public administration or a closely related field is preferred, as well as seven years of experience in police work, three years of which must have been equivalent to police lieutenant or higher, and completion of the basic law enforcement training academy, and experience. Must possess a thorough knowledge of modern law enforcement principles, procedures, techniques and equipment and ability to train and supervise subordinate personnel; establish effective working relations with personnel and citizens; and ability to perform work requiring good physical condition.
